Event held At John Paul II Center showcasing development at Bicester
Housing Minister Mark Prisk MP was shown the plans for the UK’s first eco-town at an event at the John Paul II Centre on Monday 17 June, showcasing the developments currently taking place across Bicester as a whole.
The Minister met Barry Wood the leader of Cherwell District Council, Steve Nardelli and Graham Johnson of P3 Eco, together with Gerry Walker and John Knevett of A2Dominion, who talked through both the first, Exemplar, phase due to start construction in the autumn and the wider masterplan for the 5,000 home scheme.
P3 Eco together with A2D have already obtained detailed consent for a first phase exemplar development of 393 homes and with outline consent for a primary school with a neighbourhood shopping and employment centre of some 45,000 sq ft in total. A2D will be building the housing, and P3 Eco are responsible for the neighbourhood centre. The ground works for the residential development will start in September 2013. P3 Eco will be submitting a detailed application for the neighbourhood centre over the next few months.
The master plan for the overall site is in the process of finalisation under a programme agreed with the planning authority and P3 Eco hope that consent for development across the balance of the eco town site will be available in 2014.
